3rd Travel Log - Errands

July 19th

For the past few days I have woken up VERY early around 6:30 am and have had to get up in order to occupy myself for an hour or so – then I get very tired and fall fast asleep for another couple hours. Hopefully this doesn’t become a routine… We went out again today to do errands (i.e. the never-ending paperwork that comes along with being a foreigner in Italy). To make our day more interesting we walked by the Palazzo Vecchio and over to the Ponte Vecchio which were both swimming with tourists. Jewelry shops lined the edges of the ponte – with big glass windows ensuring that people walking by will have their attention caught by some stunning piece of jewelry. These shops made me think of my step-mom, as she absolutely would love all the “sparkly-pretties.” After, we wandered through the Uffizi, which we will have to return to when it’s not drowning in tourism.

We also popped by the school where I will be taking language classes starting in August. Which I am anxious for, because I just want to know Italian now so I don’t feel like such a tourist only really experiencing a tiny bit of the city. GELATO – we got some for the first time today, incredible we got: chocolate, strawberry and pistachio.
