Travel Blog #4 - July 23rd 2012

We went downtown today to do more errands at the post office and at my language school.  After we went to an Italian café. We ordered up front from a display case then were told to go to the back where we were seated and given our food. I liked the feeling of the place, very casual and authentic. It was definitely stomping ground for the local Italians, just a bit off the beaten path that is currently over run with tourists. In Italian fashion- we ordered pasta and got a large bottle of l’acqua naturale. We were all starving so we start to wolf down our food. I peer over at my little brother who is struggling to get any pasta INTO his mouth, but is successfully flinging it over the sides of his bowl. I chuckle a little, and the longer he struggles the more people around us notice. A couple men bust in full out belly laughs (in good spirit though) at my tired little brother just trying to eat his pasta. The waiter brings a spoon, which my brother uses to try and scoop up the pasta. Which, of course, is even funnier that what he was doing before, so they laugh even harder that before. I show him how to twirl the fork around the spoon to reeling in some noodles. But, He ends up just stabbing away at the noodles in his bowl…

Later we got GELATO. Which was equally incredible as the kind we got the other day. I got dark chocolate, which knocked my socks off—- holllly crap it was like eating chocolate mousse. My dad would have absolutely adored this gelato, and judging how much of it ended up on my little brother’s face I can only imagine how much would have ended up on my dad’s:)
